Lived citizen involvement in Vitoria-Gasteiz

05 Jul 2017

“We improve our Coronación Neighbourhood" was the name of an informative session for citizens in the Aldabe civic centre in Vitoria, on June 23rd and 24th, 2017. With a total attendance of more than 200 people during the two days, the event was very well received by interested citizens.

The event was structured in five informative tables, each one focused on a specific topic.

  • Urban space transformation
  • Energy retrofitting of buildings
  • Contract and funding for neighbours
  • District heating network
  • Other experiences

On each informative table the neighbours could express their doubts and ask questions related to the project. The aim of this session was to provide direct information to the owners in an informal surrounding and with an easily understandable language, so that people could feel confident and familiar with the project and - at the same time - minimize any eventual reluctance.

In addition, best practice cases of other cities were presented. Neighbours from other districts where retrofitting projects were already successfully implemented (like Mogel in Eibar and Zaramaga in Vitoria-Gasteiz) talked about their experiences including the advantages and challenges of these executed measures. These success stories helped to gain a positive vision of district energy retrofitting solutions and contributed to a more positive attitude of the citizens.
