Lighthouse City Vitoria-Gasteiz has started the Intelligent Electric Bus service

The rest of the remaining electric vehicles will be gradually incorporated into a fleet that will have 13 units when the implementation of the system is completed. During the first few weeks, the EIB line will run at a frequency of 8 minutes, which will be reduced to 7 minutes.  

Passengers using the BEI line (both electric and conventional buses) must validate their BAT (or Mugi or Barik) card at the ticket machines that have been installed in the bus shelters before boarding the vehicles, or purchase tickets in the machines provided for this purpose in cash. Payment by bank card will be introduced in the coming weeks. BAT cards will also be available at the Mendizorrotza and El Boulevard stops. A new service for TUVISA.  

The cancellation of tickets on the outside enables access to the buses from any of the doors. This will help to improve journey times at stops. 

It should be taken into account that there are other lines in the bus network that share a stop with the EIB. In these cases, the validation of the BAT card or the purchase of the ticket is carried out on the bus itself, as has been the case up to now.  

The EIB has a large team of professionals at the controls of the vehicles from day one. TUVISA will have 45 people trained to drive the EIB service buses. 

The EIB is more sustainable, accessible, innovative and safe. With a municipal investment of 9 million euros, the 13 new state-of-the-art electric vehicles will link 14 districts of Vitoria-Gasteiz and will provide service on TUVISA's line 2, with a potential of 3 million users along the route.
