First SmartEnCity Network Bulletin published

The SmartEnCity Network has published it's first newsletter. From now on, "the Bulletin" will appear on a monthly basis and provide information on smart energy transition of cities plus news from the network members. Potential Follower Cities as well as other interested people will receive tailor-made information, ready to be replicated.

Bornholm is hosting People's political festival (Folkemødet)

The Folkemødet is an annual festival where the Danish citizens can meet with the Danish politicians and engage in debates on various topics. This is a 4-day extensive event where all participants are happy to celebrate democracy and get closer to their politicians, different organisations and all kind of public groups.

Vitoria-Gasteiz: SmartEnCity continues in Coronación Demo District!

“With 753 equivalent dwellings committing themselves to SmartEnCity, the project has received an ultimate support and now moves forward with fresh energy!” announced Vitoria-Gasteiz’ mayor, Gorka Urtaran, in a press conference on May 31, together with the general director of Visesa, Carlos Quindós, the general director of EVE, Iñigo Ansola and the general director of Giroa, Juan Manuel Taracena.

SmartEnCity information day in Tartu

Yet another information evening took place on May 21, 2018 for residents of the housing associations participating in the SmartEnCity project. Interested people were invited to the cosy and calm backyard of the Tiigi 8 building, which is located in the pilot area of Tartu. This was the fifth in the series of pilot area resident information days and nearly one hundred people participated in the event.

Coronación District information office: a popular choice!

Within the final rush and just a few days before the deadline of the adhesion period on May 31, the information office of Coronación District in Lighthouse City Vitoria-Gasteiz has reached an astonishing milestone: Dealing with more than one thousand inquiries, this office has really proven to be a highly appreciated contact point, reflecting the high interest of the citizens and the ongoing need for explanations.

First renovation works starting in Tartu’s smart city demo district

The Tartu City Government decided to give the Kalevi 10 Apartment Association a grant of EUR 168,504 for reconstruction of the residential building and EUR 3,000 for creating a work of art. Kalevi 10 is also the first building to be refurbished within the framework of the smart city project SmartEnCity.

Canadian Company is winning Tartu’s bicycle tender

The Canadian company Bewegen Technologies Inc. has been successful in the public procurement for Tartu’s bicycle sharing system. In addition, Terasteenus OÜ was selected for the design and construction of the bicycle sharing system’s parking areas. In total, the Tartu City Government provided almost 3 million Euros for the realisation of this project.
