Annual summer information event for SmartEnCity pilot area in Tartu13 Jun 2019
On May 29, Lighthouse City Tartu was having its annual summer event. Again, this event was packed with useful information for the residents of the SmartEnCity pilot area. The meeting was focusing on the rights and claims of apartment owners and the obligations coming along with the maintenance of the new smart houses. Additionally, the new electric bikes and the bike sharing system of Tartu were introduced and the newly appointed Tartu smart city ambassadors acknowledged.
Raimond Tamm, the Deputy Mayor of Tartu and SmartEnCity project manager, welcomed the residents and pointed out that the need for apartment building reconstruction is considerable in Estonia. He promised to further support Tartu housing associations in finding the necessary funds for renovatation.
After the introductory words of Deputy Mayor Tamm, Mr Jüri Org, technical consultant and construction expert, explained the attendees the legal rights of apartment owners after renovating and how to maintain the new smart houses.
Then, Roman Meeksa, the head of the newly created Tartu City Transport Unit, introduced the new bike sharing system that will be launched on June 8 in Tartu. The participants were honored to have the chance to test ride on the new electric bikes.
This summer information event has become an annual tradition in the SmartEnCity pilot area. The aim is to provide the pilot area residents with project updates but also to offer educational, interesting and topical presentations and discussion sessions. The Tartu pilot area should be fully constructed by the end of 2020.
