Estonian municipalities of Pärnu and Lääne county visited Smart Tartu17 Nov 2020
Lighthouse City Tartu had recently even two visits to inform about SmartEnCity activities. The City Pärnu as well as representatives of severval municipalities from Lääne county came to learn and to look, and to admire the famous wall paintings.
On October 20, the representatives of the City Pärnu were invited to Lighthouse City Tartu for a study visit. Pärnu is the summer capital of Estonia, located on the Western coast of the country. In addition to a meeting of the city governments of Pärnu and Tartu, with the opportunity of exchanging experiences, the group was also taken on an art tour to the smart district of Tartu by the local project manager of the SmartEnCity project, Raimond Tamm, and the art coordinator of the project, Andra Somelar. The visitors were using Tartu’s new electric bicycles to give the visitors a first-hand experience of the new bike sharing system which was established as part of SmartEnCity project.
Also, on November 3, the representatives of several municipalities from Lääne county, a northwestern county located by the sea, arrived for a study visit. The city government introduced the SmartEnCity project aims and Tartu’s efforts to them and the art coordinator of the project took them on a guided tour through the smart district, introducing the different artworks and their origin stories.
The visitors were very enthusiastic about the interesting tour and asked many questions about how these artworks were chosen and painted. In the end, they all agreed that these pieces of art are very attractive and unique and thus contribute to Tartu's positive image.
