SmartEnCity Italian Cities Network Webinars

22 Feb 2022

In the framework of the Italian SEC Network two main events have been planned for the next months: an online webinar on 22nd February and a face-to-face meeting in Lecce in April 2022. The main aim of these two events is to share the results of Lecce Municipality as follower city during the six years project and favour a discussion between the Italian cities on smart city and energy transition topics, understanding where they are in the process and what are the most common issues they faced, presenting possible examples and/or solutions based on Lecce experience. In the following are included the information and agenda of the Webinar, that will also include a contribution from Tartu Regional Energy Agency about their experience in the process from IEP to SECAP.

SmartEnCity Italian Cities Network Webinar

22nd February 2022

Online event

Objective: The integrated energy planning and the implementation of measures to increase the use of renewable energy as well as to improve the energy efficiency are the key points of the European Horizon 2020 SmartEnCity project (GA N. 691883), that started in 2016 and it will end in July 2022. The approach developed during the project, with the aim to make the European cities smarter and sustainable, has been implemented in three “Lighthouse” cities: Tartu (Estonia), Sonderborg (Denmark), Vitoria-Gasteiz (Spain) and it was replicated by two “Follower” cities: Lecce (Italy) and Asenovgrad (Bulgaria). For every country involved in the project a network of cities has been created in order to share the progress and the project’s results.

The SmartEnCity Network Webinar, organized by Lecce Municipality and Rina, has the aim to share, with the Municipalities that are part of the Italian network, Lecce experience and results obtained during the 6 years project. Moreover, the event will be an occasion to present the next steps that Lecce will take to become a carbon neutral smart city, as well as to discuss the energy transition and smart city topics together with the Italian Municipalities.
