Lighthouse City Tartu held its Planning Conference 2020

On 5th of November, the 6th Tartu Planning conference was organised by SmartEnCity project partner University of Tartu (UTAR), due to the pandemic situation, this time virtually. This annual conference has become an important information exchange platform for urban and regional planners, researchers, NGOs, politicians and others.

SmartEnCity project partner University of Tartu organised a thematic session “Mobility data for spatial planning”, where new digital data sources and tools were discussed in the context of spatial and urban planning. A representative from Tarty City, Jaanus Tamm, gave an insightful overview how digital data sources and platforms currently are and have been used for mobility planning in Tartu. In this context, the Tartu City data portal and bike-share system developed within SmartEnCity project were discussed. Urban planner from company Hendrikson & Co talked about how the topic of mobility has been approached in urban spatial plans.  Andra Somelar from IBS draw on her experience on citizen engagement and introduced the citizen engagement toolkit. Siiri Silm from University of Tartu introduced the open access mobile positioning data portal (https://pdm.ut.ee/) that is useful for the municipalities. The session was moderated by Veronika Mooses and Siiri Silm (UTAR).
